Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD) is the North American seat of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, head of the 900-year-old Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and guide to millions of Buddhists around the world.
Beautifully situated in the northern Catskill Mountains above Woodstock, New York, KTD offers traditional teachings and contemporary programs by lineage masters under the guidance of the Gyalwang Karmapa and our resident teachers: Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, Khenpo Ugyen Tenzin, Khenpo Karma Tenkyong, and Lama Karma Drodhul. All are welcome.
KTD offers an ongoing schedule of Buddhist teachings and practice retreats, as well as daily and monthly public practices, free weekly classes, and the opportunity to do approved private retreat. Accommodations and meals are available; pre-registration is required for all programs and retreats. In addition, the KTD bookstore is open daily from 9am to 5pm and the main shrine room is often open for individual and group visits and guided tours. Visitors from all spiritual traditions are welcome. Public Areas: The public areas include the main Shrine Room, the Namse Bangdzo Bookstore, the guest services desk (“front office”), the library on the ground floor of the residence building, and the bathrooms on the ground floor of the residence building. Other areas of the monastery are not open to the general public. Please respect these areas.
Bookstore Hours: The KTD Bookstore is open 9am-5pm daily.
Onsite Information: Stop by the front lobby area to pick up a printed schedule or special announcements; the entrance is directly across from the bookstore entrance.
Front Office: The Front Office (in the lobby area) is open from 10 am – noon and 1 pm – 4 pm daily. Email anytime with questions.
Overnight Guests: If you have confirmed reservations for teachings and accommodations, please arrive between 4 pm and 7 pm to check in (or contact the front office to make special arrangements for your room key pickup and check-in). Monastery doors are locked at 9 pm during the week and 10 pm on Friday and Saturday nights.
Parking: Parking is available for registered guests and day visitors to KTD. Please follow signs and any directions from staff regarding overflow parking if the main lot is full and respect the fire lane signs (cars will be towed at owner’s expense if fire lanes are blocked).
