Join Ash Poirier for a 3-day, 2-night residential (or online) retreat where we will explore the techniques, methods and understandings of mindfulness and how they help us decrease the suffering we face in this life. This retreat will be in an intimate setting of 10 students.
Ash Poirier has taught the techniques and lessons of mindfulness meditation to groups and individuals for several years. She enjoys bringing a pragmatic and practice-oriented approach to teaching, allowing the simplicity, accessibility and effectiveness of the Dharma to shine through.
She was trained via the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program as facilitated by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. She has also trained as a mindful mentor. Her Dharma studies include completing the Dedicated Practitioners’ Program via Spirit Rock Meditation Center, studying MahaSati with Heather Sundberg and jhana practice with Leigh Brasington. She attends a monthlong silent retreat yearly in addition to other shorter retreats. Though most of her training is through the Theravada lineage, she has also studied in the Zen, Shambhala and Dzogchen traditions. Her practice is influenced by countless teachers and students. She has studied with many teachers via Spirit Rock, IMS, Barre Society of Buddhist Studies and the Insight Meditation Center. The Dzogchen teachings of Longchenpa shape her practice and her mind.
She is a US Navy veteran and a physician assistant. She is in training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. She currently teaches biweekly via the Hirsch Wellness Network, a beautiful cancer-support program based out of Greensboro, NC.
