Profile
Daifukuji Soto Mission is a Buddhist temple belonging to the Soto Zen tradition. All are welcome to join our services and programs and to freely explore the Soto Zen Buddhist teachings. We offer meditation (zazen) three times a week and hold major Buddhist services monthly. Dharma Keiki, a program for children of preschool age to the third grade, is offered twice a month in person. Children and their parents may join the program via Zoom on the first Sunday of the month. Registration is required. Please contact the temple for details.
Daifukuji is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Kona Heritage building. The current structure was built in 1921. A gift shop, located in the temple’s basement, is open on Fridays and Saturdays and during major services and events. (Call ahead for shop hours.) A summer festival called a Bon Dance is held annually on the second Saturday in July; it is open to the public. We do not have the facilities to offer overnight accomodations.
Daifukuji is located south of Kailua-Kona in the town of Honalo at 79-7241 Mamalahoa Hwy. Please see our website for directions.
